Well isn't this a bunch of fun!? My Delaney ancestors settled to start their American life in Avoca, Wisconsin, USA. I descend from P.J.Delaney from County Wexford, who opened a saloon in Muscoda, still in operation after 150 plus years, and was a farmer.
Any Delaneys out there with Avoca, WI roots???

I am writing this message because I am in desprate need to find out my past and family history. I am an African American Delaney and many of us are trying to find out how we came upon this beautiful lastname that makes me proud and who I am every time i say it. So just know that there are very many African American Delaneys in the U.S. and mainly in Virginia, North Carolina, and some parts of Maryland so if any one knows any thing post a message up. Thank God for making us one

I have found no reference to my Grandparents, Frank Delaney and Charlotte (Rountree) Delaney from Thomasville, Georgia USA. They had twelve children, all of which are believed to be deceased. I was born to Haskell Delaney and Mamie (Glenn) Delaney on Long Island in New York where I still reside. Does anyone have any background information?

Fascinating site. My wife (Julie) has taken the dive into Delaney family history. My branch was the emmigration of the Widow (Ellen) Delaney to New York with her son (Thomas) around 1858. I have warned my wife that she might turn up 1/10 of an acre, one cottage, one cow and one pig. She is not swayed. I do like your site. I was in Australia some years ago. Had I known that there was Delaneys about I would have stood for a pint!

Cheers! I am just beginning my search. My father is Thomas Joseph DeLaney. My grandfather Thomas Delaney married Mary Ellen Murphy in Buffalo NY in 1899. His father was John Delaney, I can't read John Delaney's wife's name, but Ann Du.... is as far as I get. Thoomas's wife Mary Ellen was daughter of James Murphy and Catherine Kelley.
Any suggestions or links that anyone knows of??
Thanks so much

I am intersted in making comnnections with some Delaneys from Larkhall. My father, Edward, came to Australia from Larkhall in about 1925 or 1926. His father was James Delaney and his brothers were James and Tom,sisters were Ellen and Elizabeth. I recently met in Australia, Winifred Delaney who came to Australia about the same time, about 1925. Her family came from somewhere in Lanarkshire. Perhaps it was Cleland. Her father had been a miner in Scotland.

Wow!!! I feel really overwhelmed reading all the history about us Delaneys. I always wondered growing up where I was from. Am I just a New Zealander? Now after coming across this site I know I belong to a huge family which is rich in heratige. I feel truely proud and blessed. I also found it amusing that James Delaney is a name that comes from way back and it is also the middle name i gave to my son! Great work with the site.

As the grandaughter of Phyllis Edna Beasley{recently deceased} I found Delaney's Corner and other information really interesting. Tom Delaney was my great great grandfather. I would be interested in any familly get togethers or events. He sounds like he was a real character as are the Beasley clan. I think I will take a trip up in the next few weeks and have a look around. Warmest regards

Interesting site. My family came here to Scotland from Ireland at the end of the 19th Century. There are loads of us in the Glasgow area and particularly in Lanarkshire. I am from the village of Cleland and the area is full of Delaneys! Thought you'dlike to know about a relatively recent famous Delaney from here in Scotland. My geat uncle Jimmy Delaney was a very famous Scottish footballer in the 30's 40's and fifties. He played for Glasgow Celtic , Manchester United,Shamrock Rovers etc etc - the only footballer to have won a league cup winners medal in Scotland, Ireland and England apparently, and Sir Matt Busbys first signing at United. Intersted to hear from Delaneys worldwide

Hi Maurice,
I have just been browsing through your website and found it very helpful towards my research. Basically, I have been meaning to find out about my branch of the Delaney's for some time, work permitting. Finding out about the origin of the Delaney name via your website has been fascinating. Keep up the fantastic work, it is appreciated.
Kind regards John
