Wow I didn't realise there were so many of us around. My grandfather is James Delaney of Swan Hill Victoria (dec), my father is Robert James Delaney. I beleive our family history traces back to the Lakes District in the UK. I have blonde hair, fair skin & brown eyes so lots of people say I must have Irish origins. It was awesome to find this site. Take care all you Delaney's out there Ann-Maree

Had to leave a comment. I've been reading Tom's book and thought I would take a look at what had been happening on the site. In the next edition of the book I hope I can add some photos of the family to the section A6: Our line of the family.
I hope to get back to Ireland again someday and will definitely take in twomileborris this time. Keen to get a copy of the distillation book (It's the scientist/whiskey drinker in me!!!)
Cheers Glenn (Pat-> Mary line)

Hello -- I'm doing research for an article about the fishin' Delaneys(Delanys) from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. William and wife Lavinia sold jewellery and metal fishing lures circa 1880 and Henry T.and John Delaney sold guns, decoys and metal fishing lures around 1869-70. I need to know the relationship between William and Henry and John. Williams's dad was 'old' John Delaney born in 1788, married to Fanny. Henry's dad was Cornelius. Dont know younger John's dad or how Cornelius and John's dad connect. I'm trying to do an article on the history of Canadian fishing tackle makes of the 1800's, and the Delaneys feature prominently.

Just happened to stumble on to this site. AWESOME!! My Grandfather was Chester DeLaney, an orphan, and the only connection to Ireland I have been able to come up with was that his mothers last name was Fitzpatrick and we have her original papers from Ellis Island in New York from the late 1800's. I will input more after I speak with my mother. Maybe then I can help someone or someone can help me. Thanks

I have traced my Delaney connections back to Derryogue, County Down NI in 1893 when my grandfather's birth was registered at Kilkeel. My Grandfather was Patrick L Delaney and my Great Grandfather was Francis [Frank] Delaney a teacher/head teacher. I know that my grandfather had brothers one called Frank and the other called Richard [a catholic priest]. All are now dead and have been for many years so that's as far as I have managed to get.
Although my children have not yet shown any great curiosity in their genealogy, I would like to be able to leave as many signposts as I can. Has anyone got any ideas, leads, contacts I can pursue.

Hello my name is fiona and me father wants to know if there are any relatives out there who we don't know about. He originally lived in Emmet Street Sallynoggin, Dunloaghaire, and moved over to England in the 50's. Anyway I'm a gorgeous looking creature at 32 and want to know if there is any other stunning delaney's out there! By the way his family still live there but are more known as O'Shea.

Great site and quite nice to be able to look up some history that seems to have been lost. I was born in Coral Gables, Fl and my Father and Grandfather were born in New Jersey and shotly moved to Miami. My Grandfather, Hugh's parents came over from the Emerald Isle though I never got to know him. Connect with anyone?

My Delaney's left Tipperary in the 1850's for New York. Settled in the Coal mine area of Pennsylvania. Ran a coal boat from Honesdale, Pennsylvania to Kingston, NY. Just can't trace my Delaney's back to Tipp.

I am proud of my Irish history. I am also looking for relatives of Thomas Delaney of 1662 in Queen's County, Ireland. I have been working on this for better than 20 years and have found the ones that have passed on, now I would like to communicate with the live ones. I have three children and two grandchildren and I would like them to have the knowledge of their heritage. This guestbook is a great idea.

I am interested in finding the family of my birth father. I was born July 6, 1979 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. My mothers name was Judy Maybrier-Combs. She told me before she died that my "father" had adopted me and my real dad had passed away. His name was Walter Delaney. My adopted dad does not know that I am aware of my real dad. He is 83 and it would break his heart. If anyone knows anything email me. Thank you!

Hi everybody I seem to be one of the few Delaneys still living in Ireland to access this site. My people are from Wexford - they are seafaring people, as far back as we can go (early 19th). We tend to be dark-haired and blue-eyed. Good luck with the research everybody.

Hello, fellow Delaneys'
Just to add to the general history. I was born Dec. 20, 1937 in Phila. My father, Timothy, was born 1910 and died 1970 in Phila. My grandfather, Timothy, was born 1880 in Clonmel, Tipperary and died 1976 in Phila. I believe his father's name was also Timothy. I can't trace any further back at this point. If anyone knows anything about this I would appreciate information.
Thanks, Tim Delaney
