Interesting site. My family came here to Scotland from Ireland at the end of the 19th Century. There are loads of us in the Glasgow area and particularly in Lanarkshire. I am from the village of Cleland and the area is full of Delaneys! Thought you'dlike to know about a relatively recent famous Delaney from here in Scotland. My geat uncle Jimmy Delaney was a very famous Scottish footballer in the 30's 40's and fifties. He played for Glasgow Celtic , Manchester United,Shamrock Rovers etc etc - the only footballer to have won a league cup winners medal in Scotland, Ireland and England apparently, and Sir Matt Busbys first signing at United.
