James TIMMS[NI0011]8 APR 1883 - 6 SEP 1945
[NI0011] James served in the First World War. He arrived at Gallipoli, on the seco nd day 1915. He served with the 23rd Battalion, 2nd Division, 1st A.I. F. James brother's Patrick arrived on the same day. He was wounded at Bapune, France. He received a schrapnal wound in the ba ck and lost a finger. During W.W.2, James repaired clocks, but rumour had it that he spent his m oney on the horses! In 1922, when William was born, James' occupation was described as "engine -driver" for the Country Roads Board. He suffered from Diabeties.
