Casio cameras have a number of different functions used by service technicians to test different functions on the camera. On this page I focus (!) on the option to display recording information on the screen.
I received
this email from Casio Support Centre Japan asking me to take down this page as too many people are stuffing up their cameras, necessitating
EXPENSIVE REPAIRS which
YOU MUST PAY for not Casio, as you probably have voided any warranty by using these hidden menus.
Heck
even I managed to erase the White Balance and Gain Control settings on my camera and that cost me $$$ to fix!
You have been warned!!
Warning - you could stuff up your camera by erasing all or part of the on-board software or resetting all your favourite settings to factory defaults. You use these functions at your own risk, especially those that have no comment beside them.
To enter REC INFO mode
- Hold down the MENU and DISP (for the QV3000-EX) or the MENU and SHIFT keys (for the QV3500-EX) and turn the camera on to REC (not PLAY)
- Open MENU3 - Press TIMER > TIMER > MENU
- If they don't seem to work, then try entering the key sequences faster.
- To navigate - use +/– switch to select an item, MENU to return to the TEST MODE menu.
- Press the shutter to open a selection
- Choose 2.REC INFO - REC mode will start with all sorts of interesting info like the focus distance indicated in millimetres!
- Hint: if you switch the camera from REC to PLAY and, when finished viewing your photos, straight back to REC (without powering off the camera) you will still be in REC INFO mode.
Some notes about REC INFO mode:
There's obviously some info about aperture and shutter speed when you press the shutter half way e.g.
F2.3
1/250
but as to what
M2

all mean I don't know. The first 4 change as you zoom in and out and the last 3 only appear when you press the shutter half way.
As well there's the +number that changes as you move the camera about - it's small when the picture is dark (+18) and large when bright (+183).
